Community Groups

Are you a part of a neighborhood or community group? Volunteering with Rebuilding Together Oakland as a group is a great way to serve and bond.  Community groups must designate a leader to communicate directly with Rebuilding Together Oakland and distribute the information to the rest of the group.  Community groups can be both volunteers and sponsors. We encourage community groups to raise funds for rebuilding projects they plan to participate in.

Please sign up online and indicate your community group.

Student Groups

National Rebuilding Day provides students the opportunity make an immediate impact on the lives of families in our community.  Groups of five student volunteers per project site work together outside the classroom for one or more weekends to work on the rebuilding projects.  No construction skills are required, you will paint, clean, hammer, rake, scrape, and repair fences.  Work occurs at the end of April.  All volunteers must be at least 14 years old and one adult must accompany the student group.

Giving Back to the Community

The work we do is at no cost to the homeowner, but it is not free.  As a Rebuilding Together Oakland student group, consider raising funds to underwrite some of the costs associated with your building project.  A donation of $500 goes a long way, so consider a fund raising drive to raise the funds.  Leverage your Facebook and MySpace pages to spread the word and solicit donations.  All donations are tax-deductible.  Rebuilding Together Oakland's is a 501c3 organization.  Our Tax ID is 94-3213325.
