Volunteer Spotlight

John Bongiovanni has volunteered his time and talent to Rebuilding Together Oakland for 6 years and we consider him a member of our staff.  John wears two hats at Rebuilding Together Oakland; he is our IT Consultant and also builds and installs ramps for the Safe at Home program.  As a retired executive from Sun Microsystems he keeps our network, email, office and database systems humming; not always an easy task in our environmentally challenged warehouse!  When he is not in the office, he is a quick phone call away to resolve any problem a simple reboot does not fix.  If you ever wondered how Rachel manages the logistics of our rebuild days so efficiently, we have John to thank for implementing our database system which tracks everything from candidate applications to volunteers to project details.  When John wears his Safe at Home hat, he builds and installs ramps for our homeowners that need safe passage in and out of their homes.  John lives in Oakland with his wife.
